Are Indians as ACCEPTED around the World as They Claim they Are? – My Views on Racisim Against Indians

Well it feels great to write again after such a long time. Let me think what should I write… ok!! I can write on a very recent happening which in some way or other affects each and every one of us.

Indians across the world are agitated about the racial incidents that occurred recently in Australia. Similar events have occurred in various other parts of the world.

This event disturbed me too, not particularly because I m an Indian, but because no matter how much we boast about globalisation in the true sense we are not a global community. Issues like migration and brain drain have not only effected the developing countries but have also posed a threat to the developed ones.

Major conflicts around the world are not only just because of racism. What I believe is that the reason lies not in skin colour but in human nature. We hate it when someone tries to take our piece of cake and this hatred turns man into beast. This has happened in ancient times and will continue happening always.

In Sri Lanka, in U.S.A, in Canada & in Australia, you just name any single place on earth and you can see that the ethnic population has faced problems due to the labour from other countries especially India. I think we need to tackle a more massive problem than racism.

I believe that in the true sense we haven’t globalised. We have exchanged civilizations, commodities, clothing, food etc, but we are still reluctant to exchange people. Why am I saying so? Well because we have become a global village when it comes to enjoying Italian Pizza’s in Canada, Spanish Salsa in India or French Houte Couture in U.S.A but when it comes to people we have our own reservations.

Most of the people respect both the culture and dignity of other nations but they are some who think otherwise. The minority syndrome has always cropped up both nationally and internationally. I wonder what is the difference between what occurred in Australia and that which took place in Maharashtra. Both events were disgusting and were driven by regionalism.

It is strange that people adopt foreign things but not people. Lets first accept people and then their culture because their culture is incomplete without them. Lets make the world  not only a global market but a global village.

One of my friend’s cousin got seriously injured in the incidents that took place in Australia. I am really worried about so many of my friends who are Australia, which was till very recently considered a safe place to study and work for Indians. I have never heard of any news of racism in there.
I really think that there must be a small issue which has taken a bigger picture and the Police officials should intervene and resolve it asap before it becomes a major problem.
Anyways, really well written blog, makes my emotions flow out !!

I liked and agree with what you have written.

I work for a mnc and went outside for a assignment to paris and I could really see some discrimination there.. no matter what Indians think, at large they are not treated at par with other races.. but in the recent past they have managed to earn a lot of acclamations.

Racism, is not so open and about as it used to be, but it would be really naive to think that it exists on a small scale. what people feel, about each other, cant be changed by making that act a stigma.
In the world we live in, the education has to begin from a very young age. racist tolerance will only come, if every generation from hence forth is made unaware of color, being a source of differentiation.
It will stop, the day, the concept of white, brown, black or even terms like african-american, cease to exist in relation to people.

I am planning to apply for a university in Australia for my under graduation course, but after reading and listening to various news and other media channels, I have postponed it for sometime.

Please suggest what should I do about my plans to go and study in Aus, I really wish I could go there.

You name them and they are everywhere. RACISIM is a disease of inferiority complex and that generates the concept that I look down on you… its not B&W or CHinks or Japs, its not GRINGO or wooly heads.. the thing which we forgot that all great civilizations culture religion started from the “SO CALLED UNDER-DEVELOPED NATIONS” .

We Indians also have a serious problem I mean what is so great by studying in Australia.I think we have lost our self -respect because everytime a India goes out to study he tries to find a job there and settle down there rather than coming back to server ones own country . This projects an image that Indians are self centered and they have no love for their own country. I thin k its good to educate yourself abroad then come back and serve your country here.
